JETON TECHNICAL MANUAL
For some time now, I had been asked to “put together and publish all the technical articles from the JETON yearbooks and newsletters.” I have now done so. It was also important to me to document some of what we (Eckhard Hunger, Günter Niermann and I) worked out in our boatbuilding project. And—all the things I tell people over the phone who have just bought an old JETON should also be written down once, so that I can simply send it out. That is how the present work turned out somewhat more extensive than we had thought. Since the present articles from JETON yearbooks and newsletters were made available in word-processing form, they could be edited. May the authors forgive me for removing topical and personal references, reducing the articles to the technical, and partly shortening them. Treatises of a fundamental nature I have reprinted unabridged in the appendix. Articles that are no longer up to date, such as my compilation of designs for the jib fairlead, have been left out.
The manual contains contributions from Hans Spannheimer, Susanne Braess, Jutta Rüthrich, Erich Beer and Walter Stupp. I would like to thank everyone who helped produce the manual, as well as the authors of the contributions.
