A manual for WHOM?

This manual is aimed above all at owners of old JETONs who have just bought the boat used, or who have had a JETON for a while and have recently discovered their sporting ambitions.

Overview

Production JETONs from Klepper or from Gruben are not comfortably equipped out of the box. The fitting-out does not correspond to the latest state of the art and, above all, not to the needs of regatta sailing. In this manual you will find, on the one hand, basic information about the boat in general—construction features, developments, etc. In addition, measures are described that are intended to lead to an increase in boat speed, or simply to an increase in the fun of sailing. Some of the measures described here apply only to older boats. This is pointed out in the relevant chapters. The Berlin series and the boats from Fröschke and from Robert Franz correspond to the latest state of the art. The book also contains some trim tips, which of course apply to all JETONs.

Aim

This manual brings together all the construction and trim measures known (to me). It is not meant to suggest that all the measures are necessary to make a boat fast or competitive. This applies above all to construction measures. Two things, however, are indispensable for a good windward performance of the boat: the correct position of the measurement band MVS (->Chapter 4) and the jib fairlead (->Chapter 5). Correct trim is of course required in any case, but is also easy to achieve.
